NOTE: SOLD OUT

To celebrate St Kilda - The Silent Islands being shortlisted for one of Scotland’s top literary prizes, the prestigious Saltire Society - First Book award, we have prepared a very limited, hand numbered and signed special edition of 20.

Cloth bound in ‘Lewisian Slate’ blue cotton, each of these special edition books have been masterfully hand-bound by Gillian of JUJU Books, a Glasgow based artisan bookbinder committed to quality, ethically sourced materials, and the highest levels of detail. They are finished with new end-papers, hand stamped silver lettering on the spine and cover, and each come with an original photographic print of the island of Borerary set on the cover. This is the book as I originally intended it to be.

Each book will also come with the print 'Borerary from Hirta', from a limited edition of 100, with an image size of 6x6 inches, signed, and presented on Hahnemühle archival paper.

About St Kilda - The Silent Islands

"What a remarkable book this is: testimony to a commitment of method, a brilliance of eye and a subtlety of spirit." - Robert Macfarlane.

The islands of the St Kilda archipelago, the most remote part of the British Isles, lie 100 miles to the west of mainland Scotland in the North Atlantic. Famous for the evacuation of 1930 which saw the end of a way of life, the islands have often been obscured in myth and romance. This book aims to change these perceptions with a series made over several years, and many visits out to the islands.

A hardback, with 192 pages, St Kilda - The Silent Islands contains over 80 images, includes a preface by Murdo Macdonald RSA, a hard hitting essay on the myth and reality of St Kilda by Dr Kevin Grant who was the islands archaeologist, and poetry from Gerry Cambridge and Myles Campbell. The book has been carefully designed by one of Scotland's finest designers Lachlan Young.

We have tried to create something special, affordable, and printed to a high standard, all printed in beautiful duotone.
